Absolute Power

Ecclesiastes 8:4

4Since a king’s word is supreme, who can say to him, “What are you doing?”

Somewhere beyond the border, whenever they don’t like a decision of their president, they would challenge him in the federal court. The power of their president and the things he can decide on are defined in their Constitution and By-laws. There’s no such thing as absolute power given to their president. Unfortunately, there have been presidents of other nations who had been imprisoned because they abused their authority. But if a president gives instruction to concern individuals or groups, who can stop him if what he decreed is within his right and authority as stated in their Constitution and By-laws?

In comparison, Christ the King of kings declared His absolute power in Matthew 28:18, 18All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. It also says in 1 Corinthians 15:27, 27For he “has put everything under his feet.” Now when it says that “everything” has been put under him, it is clear that this does not include God himself, who put everything under Christ. Christ has proclaimed in John 14:6, 6I am the truth!  Additionally, the Lord also said John 8:31ff, 31If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. 32Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free… 36So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed. And, may it be crystal clear to everyone that whatever Christ says is true. Whatever He predicts will happen. And, whatever He commands is absolute as authorized by God the Father.

Humans have been enslaved by sin, and by faith, we trust that Christ has freed us from sin, and as a result, we’ve become slaves to righteousness. In actuality, we are selective which master we wish to obey. Although we desire to have righteous lifestyle, sometimes, we give in to the pressure of sin, and our actions practically proved that we are not completely freed from sin, and our righteous lifestyle is partial.  Our perfect God can only use for His perfect purposes imperfect believers who confess their sins, and God Himself will forgive and purify them.

Lord Jesus, please declare my complete freedom from sin.
