Ecclesiastes 6:8

8What advantage have the wise over fools? What do the poor gain by knowing how to conduct themselves before others?

Ahithophel conspired with Absalom son of King David to grab the throne. It says in 2 Samuel 16:23, 23In those days the advice Ahithophel gave was like that of one who inquires of God. That was how both David and Absalom regarded all of Ahithophel’s advice. In 2 Samuel 15:31, 31David had been told, “Ahithophel is among the conspirators with Absalom.” So David prayed, “Lord, turn Ahithophel’s counsel into foolishness.”

David sent his best friend Hushai back to Jerusalem. When Ahithophel advised Absalom, Hushai told Absalom what he thoughts. It says in 2 Samuel 17:14, 14Absalom and all the men of Israel said, “The advice of Hushai the Arkite is better than that of Ahithophel.” For the Lord had determined to frustrate the good advice of Ahithophel in order to bring disaster on Absalom.

The brilliance of Ahithophel was misplaced. He knew that God anointed David king of Israel and not Absalom. Faith in Christ is intelligence that translates to eternity. Apostle Paul reminds us in 1 Corinthians 3:18-20, 18Do not deceive yourselves. If any of you think you are wise by the standards of this age, you should become “fools” so that you may become wise. 19For the wisdom of this world is foolishness in God’s sight. As it is written: “He catches the wise in their craftiness”; 20and again, “The Lord knows that the thoughts of the wise are futile.”

Many individuals like to argue about our faith in Christ. Don’t waste your precious time with them. It is very futile. It’s by faith, a person believes Christ and not by reasons. To be intentional in sharing the gospel to non-believers, we always need to be filled and empowered by the Holy Spirit. We sense peace and joy when it is God’s right timing to witness for Christ, and the Lord provides the right word to convince the person He prepared to believe in Christ.

Lord Jesus, help me sense it clearly when to witness.
