Ecclesiastes 2:15-16

15“The fate of the fool will overtake me also. What then do I gain by being wise?” I said to myself, “This too is    meaningless.” 16 For the wise, like the fool, will not be long remembered; the days have already come when both have been forgotten. Like the fool, the wise too must die!

Richard Branson went from high-school dropout to billionaire entrepreneur. As a young student, he struggled with dyslexia. He had a hard time keeping up with his classes. He was 15 when he started his first business “Student,” a magazine for young people. He dropped out of school to talk to people around the world. To support the magazine, he started selling records by mail. The magazine failed. But the mail-order record business turned into something huge: Virgin Records. “I was seen as the dumbest person at school. What’s interesting about people who are dyslexic is that they can often excel at things that they love and have a passion for. Failure is a wonderful way of learning. If you give something a go and it doesn’t work out, you certainly haven’t failed. You just learned,” Branson said.

It may not be easy to embrace dropping out of school. It certainly pleases parents when their children excel, more so, when they complete their college degree. A college degree offers wider job opportunities. College graduates do not monopolize success though. School dropouts can excel in their chosen career, and Richard Branson embodies a concrete proof of it. Nevertheless, learning from university professors or learning from experience, whichever path you take, getting knowledge is very essential to success. In Proverbs 4:7, 7Get wisdom. Though it cost all you have, get understanding. And in Proverbs 19:8, 8The one who gets wisdom loves life; the one who cherishes understanding will soon prosper.

Successful biblical characters had no access to modern educational system. They relied upon God for wisdom. It says in Deuteronomy 8:18, 18Remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth. When God makes us successful, He also gives us the ability to handle success in accordance to His grace.

Lord Jesus, please give me wisdom according to Your grace.
