Ecclesiastes 5:19

19When God gives someone wealth and possessions, and the ability to enjoy them, to accept their lot and be happy in their toil— this is a gift of God.

By faith, we believe that when we are able to enjoy tasks given us, whatever that would be, it’s God’s grace at work. Similarly, if we can accept from our heart that anything that we possess (luxury or wealth) comes from God, it displays faith in Him. When we realize that the enjoyment of what we have comes from God, we’ve got joy to give His portion, His tithes—the 10% of all we’ve got. The pressure in giving His tithes does not come from God. It originates from human rebellious nature. By God’s grace, there’s cheerfulness to obey, not pressure, not resistance to God’s command. In short, heartfelt gratitude and admittance that our abundance comes from God are results of His grace.

It says in Malachi 3:10-12, 10Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it. 11I will prevent pests from devouring your crops, and the vines in your fields will not drop their fruit before it is ripe,” says the Lord Almighty.12“Then all the nations will call you blessed, for yours will be a delightful land,” says the Lord Almighty.

When we sense resistance to give God’s tithes, rebellious nature is at work in us. God is sufficient. Giving His tithes unlocks His blessing. Only by faith that we acknowledge that tithe is God’s rightful portion. So, we always need to seek God’s help to increase our faith. It says in 2 Corinthians 9:7, 7Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. Whenever we give God’s tithes and our offering freely and cheerfully, God’s grace through faith is at work in us. Keep asking God to increase your faith. It’s free! It’s God’s gift to all who believe.

Lord Jesus, please increase my faith to give Your portion cheerfully.
