God’s Work

Ecclesiastes 8:6

6For there is a proper time and procedure for every matter, though a person may be weighed down by misery.

It tells us in John 9:2-7, His disciples asked him, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?” “Neither this man nor his parents sinned,” said Jesus, “but this happened so that the works of God might be displayed in him. As long as it is day, we must do the works of him who sent me. Night is coming, when no one can work. While I am in the world, I am the light of the world.” After saying this, he spit on the ground, made some mud with the saliva, and put it on the man’s eyes. “Go,” he told him, “wash in the Pool of Siloam” (this word means “Sent”). So the man went and washed, and came home seeing.

When Christ made some mud out of His spit on the ground and put it on the man’s eyes, some people believe that mud has healing effect. Theologians suggest that the mud in the eyes of the blind irritated him so that he had to obey the instruction of Christ to wash his eyes in the Pool of Siloam. Spiritually, we ask the Lord for help with our problems; He may cause irritation for us to obey Him, and He leads us to the solution of our problem. We often seek for God’s blessing. The Lord said in Luke 11:28, Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it. Christ Jesus is the Truth. What He says is true. The Lord has personal instruction for genuine believers. Listen carefully and obey the word of God, and you will certainly be blessed.

Blindness represents struggle common to mankind. God allows some people to be blind. He also allows different kinds of difficulties of life. One may not be blind but has other physical, mental or spiritual problems. Imperfection should remind us that we will always encounter problems in this world. Perfection is found in God alone. God alone is perfect. He alone has no problem and no struggle. He also set perfect time for perfect solution to every problem. And, it is by faith in Christ that we can accept and believe such reality.

Lord Jesus, help me seek for Your help always.
