Moose Antler

Ecclesiastes 3:17

17God will bring into judgment both the righteous and the wicked, for there will be a time for every activity, a time to judge every deed.

Two men faced criminal charges after cutting the antlers off a moose and leaving behind the body on a hunting trip in Alaska. The hunters went for unguided hunt but the moose meat they had harvested didn’t match up with the antlers they were carrying. Investigation indicated they had taken a smaller bull moose and then took a larger bull moose, removing only the antlers from the second moose. Both men were charged with a misdemeanor of wanton waste of moose meat. They were charged for unlawful possession and transportation of big game meat, failure to validate their moose harvest. They did not affix their hunting tag to the moose.

The thrill of not minding the law is natural to mankind. Jesus declared in John 12:48, There is a judge for the one who rejects me and does not accept my words; the very words I have spoken will condemn them at the last day. The commands of the Lord are the very words that God would use as weighing scale to measure each person’s lifestyle.

No person can obey God’s commands completely. All of us have failed at some point in our life. God has solved our failures. Jesus revealed in John 5:24, “Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life. As believers we are reminded in Romans 6:11-14, Count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus. Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its evil desires. Do not offer any part of yourself to sin as an instrument of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer every part of yourself to him as an instrument of righteousness. For sin shall no longer be your master, because you are not under the law, but under grace.

Lord Jesus, bless my life as instrument of Your righteousness.
