Repentant Thief

Ecclesiastes 7:1b

1bThe day of death better than the   day of birth.

The repentant thief pleaded in Luke 23:42-43, 42“Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.” 43Jesus answered him, “Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.” Such is a befitting example that the day of death is better than the day of birth. Did the thief make his family sad? Yet, when he put his faith in Christ, there’s rejoicing.  The Lord Jesus says in Luke 15:10, 10I tell you, there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.”

Parents rejoice when their child is born for how long? Every child is inclined to commit wickedness, and parenting is vital to their growth. It says in Proverbs 22:6, 6Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.

David was the youngest son, and his father assigned him to take care of their sheep. Before he defeated the giant Goliath, it narrated in 1 Samuel 17:34-37, 34David said to Saul, “Your servant has been keeping his father’s sheep. When a lion or a bear came and carried off a sheep from the flock, 35I went after it, struck it and rescued the sheep from its mouth. When it turned on me, I seized it by its hair, struck it and killed it. 36Your servant has killed both the lion and the bear; this uncircumcised Philistine will be like one of them, because he has defied the armies of the living God. 37The Lord who rescued me from the paw of the lion and the paw of the bear will rescue me from the hand of this Philistine.”

Practical training for children includes moral, mental and motor skills. To discover talents they wish to develop and excel in, children should be carefully and prayerfully introduced to various activities, arts, sports and work. Most importantly, children should learn about Christ. Ephesians 6:4 says, 4Parents, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.

Lord Jesus, please give parenting wisdom to all TMEC parents
