Ecclesiastes 7:5

5It is better to heed the rebuke of a wise person than to listen to the song of fools.

One does not simply lick ice cream and put it back in the grocery store freezer. Police say they’re in hot pursuit of a cold-hearted ice cream tamperer who went viral last month with her antics. The woman was captured on video licking a tub of Blue Bell Ice Cream, then putting the lid back on and returning it to the Walmart freezer in Lufkin, Texas. The nine-second clip has been viewed more than 11 million times since it was posted to Twitter on June 29. “What kind of psychopathic behavior is this?” a user wrote in a tweet with the clip. Others reacted with shock and disgust to the blatant act of food tampering.

Police say they worked with Blue Bell to identify the location in the video. They quickly followed up and identified the woman through surveillance video obtained from the store.

Detectives believe they have the woman identified and the investigation is ongoing. Police say they intend to file charges. Blue Bell thanked customers for raising concerns about the video in a statement on the company’s website. The company says it takes food tampering very seriously and will not tolerate tampering with its products.

Such temptation of going viral, appreciated or followed in social media is addictive. Many uploaders have engaged in crazy activities, created curiosities and dared creativeness. Social media can be used for good purposes to inform others of real issues or challenge followers to be productive and useful to society. They can mislead and dare others to follow their crazy antics that may eventually ruin one’s life. It says in Proverbs 15:31-32, 31Whoever heeds life-giving correction will be at home among the wise. 32Those who disregard discipline despise themselves, but the one who heeds correction gains understanding.

How great it would be when social media is used more often to promote smart living. Be smart to follow the wise on social media. Be a decent example to your followers also.

Lord Jesus, protect the integrity of Your servant on social media.
