¹⁰Then too, I saw the wicked buried—those who used to come and go from the holy place and receive praise in the city where they did this. This too is meaningless.  

Red-hot lava gushed out of Taal volcano as tens of thousands of people fled the area through heavy ash and frightening tremors. Experts warned that the eruption could get worse, and plans were being made to evacuate hundreds of thousands more. Clouds of ash blew more than 100 kilometers north of the Taal volcano reaching Manila, and forcing the shutdown of the country’s main airport, with more than 500 flights canceled. The airport was partially reopened after the ashfall eased. The government’s disaster-response agency and other officials reported thousands of villagers fled their homes in the hard-hit province of Batangas and nearby Cavite province. Officials expected the number to swell. Some residents could not immediately flee their ash-blanketed villages because of a lack of transportation and poor visibility. Others refused to leave their homes and farms.

Pray for wisdom for government agencies to assist affected residents systematically. Pray that the eruption of Taal volcano would cease sooner. If it extends for many weeks or months, properties surrounding it could be buried in ash, and residents will suffer subsequently. Such unavoidable natural disaster reminds us that we just cannot control our situations and future. We really need to rely upon the Lord God Almighty. It says in Hebrews 2:18, ¹⁸Because he himself suffered when he was tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted. And in Hebrews 4:15, For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin. Christ is Lord of heaven and earth, and He knows exactly what we need and when we need them. We must completely trust Him for our needs practically and spiritually. Obedience to Him is practical proof of trust that His ways are designed for our best life experiences.

Lord Jesus, take care of Filipinos affected by volcanic eruption.
