Psalm 3:4

4 I call out to the Lord, and he answers me from his holy mountain.

Many politicians are more concerned of getting votes so that whatever is popular, they readily give their support without much consideration of possible consequences. They want to belong to the majority, so to say.

There was a legislator who openly gave her support to a radical group who wanted the police department to be abolished. Lately, a repeat offender, who committed similar crime before, attacked the said legislator. Luckily, she survived. Her terrible experience made her realized the need of better policing. Without reservation during press briefing, she promoted and advocated better means to keep repeat offenders off the streets and find better ways to help solve the problem of repeat offenders.

The Lord anointed David as king of Israel. David won all his battles because he always cried for help from the Lord. But when he was complacent and did not go to war, it was when he committed his biggest blunder because he did not pray for God’s guidance.

Ordinarily, when life is peaceful without much difficulty, everyone goes on their daily routines. Do you regularly pray that God would keep your life free from distress or struggles?

It narrates in 1 Chronicles 4:9-10, 9Jabez was more honorable than his brothers. His mother had named him Jabez, saying, “I gave birth to him in pain.” 10Jabez cried out to the God of Israel, “Oh, that you would bless me and enlarge my territory! Let your hand be with me, and keep me from harm so that I will be free from pain.” And God granted his request.

The Hebrew term “kabad” can be interpreted as heavily burdensome, distinguished and honorable. Interestingly, most translators preferred to use “honorable” as description of Jabez. Did Jabez promote and advocate respectful lifestyle despite the struggles he endured so that God granted his prayer?

Lord Jesus, help me always cry for your help.
