Boring

Psalm 2:4

4The One enthroned in heaven laughs; the Lord scoffs at them.

After an easy win against another basketball team, the coach of the winning team was interviewed about the impressive performance of his basketball players. It was reported that the coach jokingly said, “It’s getting boring!” His recent comment after winning a game may have originated from glorious pride on how his players responded really well to his coaching style. Possibly, it was his expression to relax himself from the pressure of trying to win more games. His basketball team was not the best in league though. Actually, they just won games as many as their losses. They badly needed to win more games. Some observers may interpret that his comment, “It’s getting boring,” is some sort of disrespect to the other team.

Disrespect from opposing team may challenge players to perform better; it may discourage them and won’t exert more efforts next time they play the game. Spiritually, we always face challenging situation in life. It may discourage us when others laugh at our failures and weaknesses or take a challenge as catalyst to keep on trusting our Lord Jesus Christ no matter what situation we face. It says in Ephesians 6:12, 12For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.

Do you admit that you cannot win spiritual battles if you don’t rely upon Jesus Christ for help? With human ability, we struggle spiritually. Spiritual enemies can exploit human weaknesses. When we fully depend on Jesus Christ the King of kings, we certainly win spiritual warfare. By faith, we trust him to help us be victorious conquerors. It says in Romans 8:38-39, 38Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Lord Jesus, help me to trust you always
