Earthquake

Ecclesiastes 12:6

6Remember him—before the silver cord is severed, and the golden bowl is broken; before the pitcher is shattered at the spring, and the wheel broken at the well.

On social media, individuals posted pictures of broken kitchen wares and appliances that were shattered after very strong earthquake rattled the northern region of the Philippines recently. There were several casualties and damaged structural buildings in the affected areas.

Natural disasters and calamities, like earthquake, are painful reminders that unpredictable situations beyond our control may happen anytime, anywhere. When lifespan that the Lord had set expired, nobody can rewind it. It is far better to be aware always that we don’t hold the future in our hands, and make sure that we are situated in the center of God’s will.

Christ warned in Matthew 24:6-8, 6You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. 7Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. 8All these are the beginning of birth pains.

The Lord Jesus Christ may return sooner than expected; even if he won’t, we still have to face the expiration date of our lifespan in this world. When that day comes, we need to be assured that God will allow us to enter his heaven and live with him in eternity. Plausibly, heavenly life can be partially experienced even in this temporal realm. Be certain that you have received the Holy Spirit of Christ as guarantee that you received the right to become children of God to live in his heaven eternally.

Heavenly life is peaceful contentment. When filled with the Holy Spirit of God and he produces fruit of joy and peace in us, we can sense peaceful contentment in the midst of challenges of life. We need peace at all times. It says in 2 Thessalonians 3:16, 16May the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times and in every way.

Lord Jesus, fill every aspect of my life with your Holy Spirit.
