Election

Psalm 1:5

5Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous.

Election of church leaders should help us understand that all authorities that exist have been established by God, and that includes private and public authorities. Consequently, respect of authorities is respect of God. For believers who pay respect to authorities established by God, will get commendation from God, and possibly, earn eternal treasure.

If it is practice of faith in God that we recognize and pay respect to authorities because we believe that they have been established by God, it should also remind us that when the Judgment Day comes, we will find ourselves standing before God. God has recorded everything we do, whether we respect authorities or rebel against authorities.

Rebellion to authorities practically illustrates the natural instinct of humanity to rebel. Although most individuals may assume that they want to be free in doing what they want to do, biblically speaking, they just follow the natural sinful desire of mankind. And that is not freedom in the real meaning of freedom. Why?

To follow the natural sinful instinct is slavery to sinful nature. But why does God allow us to choose our human sinful nature and disobey him? It states in Romans 11:32, 32For God has bound everyone over to disobedience so that he may have mercy on them all.

Everyone has become sinful after the first mankind had sinned. On Judgment Day, we will face our Creator. Will you be condemned forever or live with him forever? Christ was crucified for our sins. But not everyone can believe such mysterious reality. Why? It is by faith to believe it. Believers of Christ are declared righteous before God to live with him forever in his heaven. The Lord Jesus declared in Matthew 13:14, 14In them is fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah: “‘You will be ever hearing but never understanding; you will be ever seeing but never perceiving.

Lord Jesus, help me trust you as my Lord and Savior now until forever.
