Friday 13th

Ecclesiastes 8:13

13 Yet because the wicked do not fear God, it will not go well with them, and their days will not lengthen like a shadow.

Horror film, Friday the 13th became popular because of superstition that Friday 13th has some creepy chiller factors surrounding it. Whether or not you are particularly superstitious about Friday 13th rolling around every now and then, freaky stories have been heard.  On Friday, October 13, 1972, while on its way to Chile, Uruguayan Air Force Flight 571 crashed into the snow covered Andes Mountain. The 45 passengers included members of the Old Christians rugby team. Only 16 passengers survived: nine died in the crash, several others from injury and extreme conditions the days following, and an avalanche took eight more. After more than two months, the survivors assumed that search parties had ceased looking for them. Two of the rugby players made a 10-day journey and finally returned with assistance 72 days after the crash.

Believer or non-believer, someone may predict but nobody is exempted when tragedy strikes. One may readily dismiss that Friday 13th factor causes tragic accidents, but still there are people who are scared of Friday 13th, why? It may point to something more frightening than the superstition surrounding Friday 13th horror. The terror of tragic death is real. But, to be punished eternally by the Lord because of our transgression caused by unbelief in God is much more terrifying and that should not be take for granted.

These days, life insurance policies have become multi-billion dollar industry because many people are worried about life on earth, yet many don’t care about their spiritual life. Christ declares assurance of eternal life for all He called to be His sheep in John 10:27-29, 27 My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. 28 I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand. 29 My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand.

Lord Jesus, thank you for my eternal life in You.
