Frustrate

Psalm 3:3

3But you, Lord, are a shield around me, my glory, the One who lifts my head high.

Psalm 3 was King David’s prayer when his son Absalom tried but miserably failed to grab the throne. When King David and his trusted soldiers and their families fled Jerusalem, he sent his confidant Hushai the Arkite back to Jerusalem to frustrate the advice of Ahithohel who conspired with Absalom.  Indeed, Absalom and all the men of Israel preferred the advice of Hushai the Arkite rather than the advice of Ahithophel.

Can you believe that the Lord frustrated the good advice of Ahithophel in order to bring disaster on Absalom? It narrates in 2 Samuel 17:14-16, 15Hushai told Zadok and Abiathar, the priests, “Ahithophel has advised Absalom and the elders of Israel to do such and such, but I have advised them to do so and so. 16Now send a message at once and tell David, ‘Do not spend the night at the fords in the wilderness; cross over without fail, or the king and all the people with him will be swallowed up.’”

King David trusted the Lord. The Lord honored his faith; he kept David safe. Whenever David went to battle or had difficulties, God surrounded him with trustworthy people. King David had never been defeated in battle because the Lord shielded him.

Similarly, there are possible circumstances when we may feel defeated or overwhelmed by our situations. We must trust that the Lord protects us; he can easily cause anything for our good. That is, if we love him, he will give us courage, hope and expectation for better things ahead of us. It says in Romans 8:28 28And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

Do you seriously accept that God can easily translate difficult circumstances for your own good? If in case you have a little doubt about it, pray that the Lord strengthens your faith to strongly trust and love him.

Lord Jesus, strengthen my faith to love you more.
