Mindset

Ecclesiastes 10:17

17Blessed is the land whose king is of noble birth and whose princes eat at a proper time—for strength and not for drunkenness.

Good or bad situation may influence our mindset, but not necessarily dictates success or failure of anyone. When they were forced as refugees after Nebuchadnezzar King of Babylon conquered Jerusalem, Daniel and his three friends may have been affected somehow, but when they were given an opportunity, they excelled because they resolved not to be defiled by attractive lifestyle, not even royal food or drink.

It says in Daniel 1:17-19, 17To these four young men God gave knowledge and understanding of all kinds of literature and learning. And Daniel could understand visions and dreams of all kinds. 18At the end of the time set by the king to bring them into his service, the chief official presented them to Nebuchadnezzar. 19The king talked with them, and he found none equal to Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah; so they entered the king’s service.

The mindset, attitude and disposition of Daniel and his friends may have impressed the king. King Nebuchadnezzar must be very intelligent that after he observed the exceptional traits of Daniel and his friends, he assigned them as officials in Babylon.

Young people are the next leaders of the church. Let us pray for wisdom and revelation from the Lord for them, so that they may discern which path God had designed for them to excel; and that, they may readily accept God’s calling to leadership ministry despite the frequent pressure of attractive worldly lifestyle.

Lord Jesus, bless our youth to follow godly lifestyle of righteousness.
