No Taste

Ecclesiastes 9:7

7Go, eat your food with gladness, and drink your wine with a joyful heart, for God has already approved what you do.

You may have heard a humorous story of a husband who complained about the food prepared by his wife. “How could you eat this food? It’s tasteless! If you cannot cook tasty food, just order food delivery or takeout from my favorite restaurant!” the ungrateful husband grumbled. But, instead of annoyance to the unappreciative attitude of her husband, the wife was very much concerned that her husband had no taste of the good food she prepared; so, she called for help: “Hello, 911 Operator!  I am seeking care for my husband. I guess he may have COVID-19 virus. He complains that he cannot taste the delicious food I prepared for him.”

According to medical experts, some key symptoms of COVID-19 may include fever, chills, cough, loss of sense of smell or taste, difficulty breathing and many more. The concerned wife may have been very aware of those Covid-19 symptoms. So, here’s a timely advice to husbands who are picky and selective eaters: Be more grateful to whatever your wife prepares for you or she will report you as infectious with Covid-19 virus.

The wisest king of Israel teaches that we can eat food with gladness, if God has approved what we do. It is a reality that not everyone can enjoy eating food. Many have preferences, especially, those individuals who are very much conscious of their health. To enjoy our food and anything we do practically exhibit that we live our life to its fullness. Do you wish to live a life to its fullness? Let Jesus Christ be Lord in all aspects of your life. When he says in John 14:6, “I am the way, the truth and the life,” he pertains to life eternal initially. But in the hindsight, Christ is also concerned of our temporal life on earth; and, to enjoy the food we eat is crucial to better lifestyle on earth.

Lord Jesus, help me to be grateful and enjoy the life you give me.
