Offspring

Psalm 2:7

7I will proclaim the Lord’s decree: He said to me, “You are my son; today I have become your father.

King David had in mind to build a temple for the Lord. He told Prophet Nathan about his plan. Prophet Nathan told King David, “Do whatever you have in mind for the Lord is with you.” The Lord instructed Prophet Nathan to inform King David in 2 Samuel 7:12-17, 12When your days are over and you rest with your ancestors, I will raise up your offspring to succeed you, your own flesh and blood, and I will establish his kingdom. 13He is the one who will build a house for my Name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever. 14I will be his father, and he will be my son. When he does wrong, I will punish him with a rod wielded by men, with floggings inflicted by human hands. 15But my love will never be taken away from him, as I took it away from Saul, whom I removed from before you. 16Your house and your kingdom will endure forever before me; your throne will be established forever.

The Lord prevented King David from building a temple. God had planned that his son Solomon will do it. Indeed, King Solomon built a temple for the Lord. The Lord declared and established the throne of King Solomon, and no other king was as wise as King Solomon after he asked God for wisdom. Pertaining to Christians, it states in John 1:12, 12Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.

If we are given the right to become children of God, has the Lord given us something similar to what he gave to King Solomon after he declared that he will be father to him, and he will be his son? Actually, God is with us when we accepted Jesus Christ as our personal Lord and Savior. Sadly, not many Christians have maximized the privilege of God being with us. We need inspiration from the Holy Spirit. He guides which practical step we should take to get blessings he had already prepared for us, if we just obey him.

Lord Jesus, completely fill me with your Holy Spirit.
