Sheep or Goat

Ecclesiastes 10:2

2The heart of the wise inclines to the right, but the heart of the fool to the left.

When righteousness originates from human instinct, it falls short of the righteousness of God. Nevertheless, genuine believers of Christ are freed from the slavery of sin and become slave to godly righteousness. Apostle Paul explained in Romans 6:18, 18You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness. But, how can we live a lifestyle of godly righteousness when pressured and surrounded by worldly lifestyle? By God’s grace, we can have godly lifestyle of righteousness only when we are filled and empowered by the Holy Spirit of Christ; and, he reminds us of our eternal destiny.

The Lord Jesus declares in Matthew 25:31-33, 31When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his glorious throne. 32 All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. 33 He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left.

Christ is the good Shepherd; and his sheep listen to his voice. The warning of eternal destiny can only be discerned and believed by believers who have the Holy Spirit of God; so, no amount of proof can convince those who rejected Christ that eternal doom awaits them, why? It’s only by God’s grace through faith in Christ that we can believe our eternal destiny.

At the crucifixion, two criminals were crucified with Christ; but, the one who sought favor from the Lord was assured in Luke 23:42-43, 42 “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.” 43 Jesus answered him, “Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.” The Scripture contains godly instruction of what God expects from his children. It says in Psalm 19:7, The statutes of the Lord are trustworthy, making wise the simple.

Believers who have the Holy Spirit of Christ are wise and obey the word of God.

Lord Jesus, bless me so that I will obey your instruction.
