Psalm 2:2

2 The kings of the earth rise up and the rulers band together against the Lord and against his anointed.

To be anointed by the Lord attracts oppositions from every side. David was anointed king of Israel. It is expected for him to have enemies from other nations, but it was unfortunate that his very own son Absalom tried but failed to take over the kingdom of Israel from David. It was helpful that many relatives of David were supportive of his kingship, but he also had relatives who caused him headache; they wanted King David to follow their suggestions.

Before David succeeded Saul as king of Israel, Saul wanted to eliminate David. Did King Saul expect his descendants to reign over Israel after his tenure as king? Nevertheless, everyone who opposed King David ended up dead because they opposed the one who was anointed by the Lord.

King David wrote about his personal experience of being opposed from every side, and it was also a prophecy that pertains to Jesus Christ the anointed Messiah. It narrated in Acts 4:25-28, 25You spoke by the Holy Spirit through the mouth of your servant, our father David: ‘Why do the nations rage and the peoples plot in vain? 26The kings of the earth rise up and the rulers band together against the Lord and against his anointed one.’ 27Indeed Herod and Pontius Pilate met together with the Gentiles and the people of Israel in this city to conspire against your holy servant Jesus, whom you anointed. 28They did what your power and will had decided beforehand should happen.

If you have sincerely accepted Jesus Christ the Anointed Son of God as your personal Lord and Savior, his Holy Spirit lives in you. Thus, you will certainly attract resistance from anyone who oppose the will of God. Be courageous. Pray to be inspired by the Holy Spirit, and you will have joyful peace and not have much concerns of intimidation from oppositions.

Lord Jesus, let your joyful peace prevail in me always.
