Candle

Ecclesiastes 9:5

5For the living know that they will die, but the dead know nothing; they have no further reward, and even their name is forgotten.

Most often, when an image of lighted candle with ribbon is posted on social media account temporarily, it signals that someone very dearest to them has died. Ordinary and great individuals, nominal and active Christians, church leaders or not, have been victimized by the pandemic; and, sympathizers have very limited means to express their heartfelt support to the bereaved; and mourning cannot be made lesser painful. Religious and non-religious people would readily send their sympathy, condolence and prayer to the bereaved, even with limited means. Truly, when a dearest friend or relative leaves and relocates onto eternity, there would be no turning back; and, that breaks the heart and mourns really deeply.

For a moment, let’s reflect on what Apostle Paul advised in 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18,16Rejoice always, 17pray continually, 18give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” Does the term “all circumstances” include grieving moments? The godly command ‘to rejoice always’ can be possibly done in godly manner, only with the help of the Holy Spirit of Christ. And when the Holy Spirit produces fruit of joy in us, we can rejoice in all circumstances, including times of grief; and, if we know that the dead had been assured of eternal life, grief for the passing of a beloved and still be joyful can possibly happen.

Death opens a portal to eternal wonderful life in heaven. It says in Revelation 21:4, 4He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” Make sure of your eternal life. Pray for divine appointment, and share the gospel of Christ to your beloved friends and relatives.

Lord Jesus, let me discern your divine appointment to proclaim your gospel.
