Lament

Psalm 5:1

1Listen to my words, Lord, consider my lament.

Christians may lament and groan when their love ones, friends or relatives have no desire to put their faith in God, or when they are attracted to worldliness and disregard the blessing included in obedience to the Lord. We can be kind and helpful to them but they may not acknowledge God as the source of goodness and kindness in our heart. What can we do?

Let us learn from John 7:3-5, 3Jesus’ brothers said to him, “Leave Galilee and go to Judea, so that your disciples there may see the works you do. 4No one who wants to become a public figure acts in secret. Since you are doing these things, show yourself to the world.” 5For even his own brothers did not believe in him.

Christ Jesus is Lord and Savior, yet even his own brothers did not believe in him at that time. Later after Christ returned to heaven, his brothers James and Jude were involved actively in the ministry. There is perfect timing for the Lord. He patiently waits for everyone to repent. Certainly, good deeds require perfect timing to be productive.

Imagine during rush hour, everyone wants to reach their destination on time. Then suddenly, a confused turtle is crossing the road. An animal lover wanted to keep the turtle safe and stopped all of a sudden. What do you think may happen next? It is a tragic reality that was published in the news. A motorist somewhere beyond the border stopped in the middle of a busy highway to allow the turtle cross the highway. And, multiple vehicles had been wreck according to authorities. The tragedy was recorded in a semitruck’s dashcam, that had not able to brake in time. The semitruck plowed multiple vehicles including the vehicle that stopped for the turtle.

It is advisable to seek help from God when doing something good and kind toward anyone to avoid lamentable situations, and the Lord will be glorified in every effort we make.

Lord Jesus, help me be good and kind sensibly.
