Unfairness

Ecclesiates 10:20

20Do not revile the king even in your thoughts, or curse the rich in your bedroom, because a bird in the sky may carry your words, and a bird on the wing may report what you say.

Once upon a time, an employee was very enthusiastic that she was given a chance to represent the company she worked with. She spent much time and effort to help the company prospered. But for unclear reason, her relationship with the management had become sour. She sensed that she was not treated fairly. In frustration, she expressed on her media accounts what she considers as unfair practices of management that she observed; she also criticized employers who do not treat their employees fairly. After few weeks, she was laid off.

Have you ever known someone who had similar experience? What should believers do when employers are unfair or have no concern of their employees? Colossians 3:22-25 says, 22Slaves, obey your earthly masters in everything; and do it, not only when their eye is on you and to curry their favor, but with sincerity of heart and reverence for the Lord. 23Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, 24since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving. 25Anyone who does wrong will be repaid for their wrongs, and there is no favoritism.

Slavery cannot be better situation than a minimum wage earner. Slaves do not receive salary for their work. Yet, slaves who trusted in Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior are instructed to obey their master with sincerity, as if, they work for the Lord. Is it possible? Yes! When we allow the Holy Spirit of Christ to empower us, we can work with joy and peace. Complaining is human natural instinct that drives away our joy and peace. When you sense unfairness, God might be telling you something relevant to your work ethics. Pray fervently to be filled and empowered by the Holy Spirit. Pray for godly wisdom to know the essential necessities for the advancement of your career.

Lord Jesus, give me godly wisdom and sincerity of heart.
