Creative Wisdom

Proverbs 3:19-20

19By wisdom the Lord laid the earth’s foundations, by understanding he set the heavens in place; 20by his knowledge the watery depths were divided, and the clouds let drop the dew.

Summer

Summer is the most exciting season to many individuals especially young people. Summer caters to a variety of entertainment activities. Most people who seek to be entertained are individuals who are easily get bored. The younger generation is the age level when you hear them often say, “I’m bored!” People who get bored desire exciting activities that do not require much thinking. Social media reveal their choices.

Sadly, there are churches that would close their church building in summer because members are out somewhere for personal leisure and pleasure. Are they bored in their spiritual life so that they would choose worldly leisure, instead?

If someone asked about your life, do you consider your daily routine as exciting or bored? When the pandemic surprised everyone to be isolated and cannot explore outside activities, many children got bored staying home and complained that their life is boring. Why? It takes creative mind to find something interesting somehow.

Of course, it takes wisdom to be creative. And Christians should take advantage of wisdom. If a Christian had sincerely trusted in Jesus Christ, he should have received the Spirit of wisdom. How? It says in 1 Corinthians 1:24, 24But to those whom God has called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.

Listen, if your life is boring. Genuine believers received the Spirit of Christ in their life. If you have Christ as Lord, you have the wisdom of God. How can wisdom from God function in us? Thus, to productively engage, godly wisdom requires godly effort not human effort. When we fully submit to the authority of Christ, we sense joyful lifestyle. The empowerment of his Holy Spirit causes us to be creative and enjoy life.

Can you believe that the Lord had already arranged creative opportunities to sense our need of godly wisdom? Difficult concerns of life are some opportunities to practice faith Christ and to seek his Lordship over our life. When we pray, God present us the best solution; godly solution requires godly wisdom to explore and enjoy it.

We must pray, “Lord Jesus Christ, please reigns over my life; help me understand the best solution to my problems that God has already given me!”

We believe that God created the heaven and the earth, but can you believe that he arranged everything in place including solution to life concerns in this world?
1.  Arrange

19By wisdom the Lord laid the earth’s foundations, by understanding he set the heavens in place;

The term “foundation” pictures of stability. We believe that by wisdom, God laid the foundation of the earth and he arranged everything in heaven in its proper place. The Lord had also arranged every solution to problems. But it requires godly wisdom to understand his activities. Modern science may have advanced, but still stars, planets and heavenly bodies in the galaxy, milky way and solar system are not explored.

Will the secret of the universe be known completely in our lifetime? I doubt! The wonders of the universe are a glimpse of the eternal wonders that we will explore when we are transported to eternity. Life in heaven is far wonderful more than the wonders of the present earth and sky. Can you imagine that? God reveals his wonders according to our faith and relationship with him. And as we grow stronger in faith and more intimate in our relationship with Christ, the more he enables us to conceptualize his wonders.

While regular humans may explore natural wonders of this present world, what should Christians explore? We should spend sufficient time knowing more about Christ. Apostle Paul says in Philippians 3:10, 10I want to know Christ—yes, to know the power of his resurrection and participation in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death.

Participation in the suffering and becoming like Christ in his death is not desirable situation to a natural human, yet Apostle Paul desired it. Why? Most often, we would choose ordinary solution to problems. By the way, what’s the worst and most difficult problem of humanity? Death. What problem can be more difficult than death?

Pandemic, war, natural or man-made calamities or just bored could cause death. Have you heard someone bored to death? Powerful men, dictators in their generations or just ordinary citizen, nobody can escape death when their lifespan expired.

Jesus Christ was crucified, died, buried and resurrected. The worst and most difficult problem of humanity had been solved when Christ resurrected. He had proven once and for all that other human problems are much easier for him to solve, right?

The Lord knows our concerns; he has already given everything we need to live in godly life, and many believers have discovered where and how to access the provision that God has already dispatched from his storehouses. Have you? 2 Peter 1:3-4 teaches, 3His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. 4Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.

By faith, we trust that God allows daily struggle to practice our faith in him and discover the solution and provision he had already dispatched for us to access.

2. Allow

20by his knowledge the watery depths were divided, and the clouds let drop the dew.

The term “let” implies that God does not exert much effort for the dew to drop. We can imagine when God opens his container, the dew will drop. By his godly knowledge, the rain or snow falls on the ground. Of course, plants and trees need water. Do you care if forests or grasses in the prairies are watered? Billions don’t care about it. God created the forest and grass and he waters them at the right time.

Wildfire

Wildfire had been a problem in summer. Concerned individuals who are fighting wildfires would surely be pleased and relieved when rain or snow fall, right? But still, excessive rain or terrible snow can be very devastating to mankind. It may lessen the problem of flooding if only someone can redirect heavy rain to places where there’s wildfire or redirect snowfall to warmer places like the desert. Then Canada would be more pleasant in winter, right? Of course, God can.

By his wisdom and understanding, God allowed different climate and weather in different area and regions in the world; those are concrete evidence of his creativity.

Truly, with godly wisdom from Christ, Christians appreciate different weather, season and climate, and not complaining of hot weather in summer or cold weather in winter. What season do you often complain about? Christians have joyful peace!

Natural human beings can always find something to complain about. In comparison, genuine Christian can always find something to praise God for.

It says in Psalm 73:1-5, Surely God is good to Israel, to those who are pure in heart. But as for me, my feet had almost slipped; I had nearly lost my foothold. For I envied the arrogant when I saw the prosperity of the wicked. They have no struggles; their bodies are healthy and strong. They are free from common human burdens; they are not plagued by human ills.

It continues in Psalm 73:16-20, 16 When I tried to understand all this, it troubled me deeply 17 till I entered the sanctuary of God; then I understood their final destiny. 18 Surely you place them on slippery ground; you cast them down to ruin. 19 How suddenly are they destroyed, completely swept away by terrors! 20 They are like a dream when one awakes; when you arise, Lord, you will despise them as fantasies.

Have you observed that most of our problems are results of our envious humanity?

The Lord understood it and sent Christ to solve our problems when we allow him to be Lord, master-in-charge of our decisions, actions and thoughts.

It requires stronger faith and godly wisdom to understand and accept that.
