Ecclesiastes 11:2

 ²Invest in seven ventures, yes, in eight; you do not know what disaster may come upon the land. 

King Solomon ventured in politics and commerce domestically and internationally. He ventured in shipping line, construction business and agriculture. He bred horses, camels, sheep and goats. Pertaining to King Solomon, it says in 2 Chronicles 1:15, ¹⁵The king made silver and gold as common in Jerusalem as stones, and cedar as plentiful as sycamore-fig trees in the foothills.

 How did King Solomon do such? Did he venture in mining industry also? When he prayed for godly wisdom, God granted him, and he became successful businessman as well.

When you hear about godly wisdom, do you instantly think about spiritual matters? You are not alone. By faith we believe that, God created both heaven and earth; he created both spiritual and physical world. Godly wisdom covers practical, secular and spiritual matters.

Many respectable Bible scholars suggest that King Solomon had personally proven that, it is very wise and smart decision to venture in multiple investments because nobody can forecast perfectly which business will progress or fail. But, remember the Lord always.  The Lord Jesus Christ warned about similar materialism of a rich man who told himself in Luke 12:18-21, ¹⁹“You have plenty of grain laid up for many years. Take life easy; eat, drink and be merry.” ²⁰“But God said to him, ‘You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?’ ²¹“This is how it will be with whoever stores up things for themselves but is not rich toward God.”

Have you discovered biblical principles about business ventures? King Solomon has proven that godly wisdom is essential to success even in business ventures. He also confessed that materialism is meaningless if we do not prioritize the Lord. Truly, anything we accumulate in this world will be left behind after all. It is godly wisdom to use resources wisely and earn treasure for ourselves in heaven. On Judgment Day, will you be rewarded?

Lord Jesus, please fill me with godly wisdom.
