Shut Down

Ecclesiastes 12:2

Before the sun and the light and the moon and the stars grow dark, and the clouds return after the rain.

Some forgotten years ago, I decided to shut down my social media account after a concerned friend informed me that something weird and undignified pictures were posted on social media under my account. As much as I wanted to be relevant and active in social media, I chose to shut down my social media account so that it won’t be instrumental to the advancement of unpleasant and offensive promotions from dishonest website administrators. Creators of social media tried to protect their consumers from undesirable elements but, they have limited capability to control everything. Who has absolute ability to control everything?

The sun has light, the moon and the stars reflect light from the sun, and the clouds return after the rain. Can anyone change those realities? Realization of things that we cannot change should lead to God our Creator; he alone has absolute capability to control of everything. Of course, it is only by faith that we can believe that just as it is by faith that we believe God had created everything for his godly purposes. It says in Colossians 1:15-17, 15The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him. 17He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.

Does the Lord allow unexpected things happen even in social media to accomplish his purposes? I believed God impressed it in my heart to quit social media and spend precious time more productively. Worldly enticement of social media is not readily resisted, even by believers. But by faith and much fervent prayers, God can empower us to utilize social media more productively for the glory of the Christ our Creator.

Lord Jesus, give us wisdom to live for your glory.
