Tornado

Ecclesiastes 10:4

4If a ruler’s anger rises against you, do not leave your post; calmness can lay great offenses to rest.

After a devastating tornado destroyed almost everything she owned, a regular employee of a prestigious company tried but cannot easily find possible means of transportation to go to work. So, she informed her immediate boss that she cannot possibly go to work. To her dismay, she was told that she would be considered absent without pay. Immediately, she updated her social media account about her unfavorable conversation with her immediate boss; and her followers and supporters shared her story in their respective social media accounts. The result, your guess is as good as others may think.

In this generation, social media has been glorified as savior of the less-favored influencers. Of course, anyone would readily seek immediate solutions to problem, and believers can also be influenced by worldly pattern of lifestyle. And so, the grace of God had been less relied upon and they wondered about Lord’s purposes in their life.

The Lord instructed in Psalm 46:10, 10Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.

Conversely, all godly instructions from the Lord require inspiration from the Holy Spirit to acknowledge and practically apply them personally. “To be still” is possible with godly patience; and with godly patience, we sense joy and peace waiting for the Lord to favor us. For there’s hope of betterment of the situation favorable to believers who patiently wait upon the Lord. It is not because God is slow to rescue us. It is because God wants us to sense if godly patience has developed and progressed in our inner being. Godly patience is a practical exhibit of personal trust in God. Of course, we don’t force and try human effort to be patient. Instead, we seek empowerment from the Holy Spirit of Christ.

Lord Jesus, let my lifestyle exhibit godly patience!
