Walang Utang na Loob

Ecclesiastes 12:1

1Remember your Creator in the days of your youth, before the days of trouble come and the years approach when you will say, “I find no pleasure in them”

The Filipino phrase Walang utang na Loob literally means “No debt inside.” It pertains to ungrateful recipients. Beneficiaries, who intentionally or accidentally forget to acknowledge their benefactors, are considered as ungrateful or Walang utang na Loob.”

Imagine this: If you were the general manager of a basketball team that recently won the world championship, and you publicly acknowledged the person who recommended you to your position as general manager of the champion team, is it practical proof of gratitude?

Ever since you accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, has your life practically become better or not? The Lord had already prepared blessing one after another to grateful believers. Blessings from God serve as practical exhibits of his grace; he wants observers to see blessedness in our life so that they might believe in him also. Are you grateful of your eternal life? How do you practically acknowledge the goodness of God for you?

King David exemplified how believers should acknowledge the goodness of God in Psalm 108:3-5, 3I will praise you, Lord, among the nations; I will sing of you among the peoples. 4For great is your love, higher than the heavens; your faithfulness reaches to the skies. 5Be exalted, O God, above the heavens; let your glory be over all the earth.

Acknowledging the goodness and love of God among believers and potential believers is practical proof of gratitude to the Lord. It is also a form of witnessing for him. Obedience and blessing are inseparable twins. Pray for stronger faith, faithfully obey the Lord, and he will bless you practically and spiritually.

Lord Jesus, help me obey you enthusiastically.
