Psalm 6:2

2Have mercy on me, Lord, for I am faint; heal me, Lord, for my bones are in agony.

Hoping to alleviate the burden of poverty from his family, a husband endured the agony of homesickness while he worked abroad. It was his regular routine going to work but that day, an irrational national recklessly drove through the path of this foreign migrant. Life-threatening injuries caused the migrant few years to recover before he was able to walk again without crutches. The reckless driver was interviewed of what happened and said, “That was his fault. If he stayed in his native land he would not meet an accident in my country.”

To point out who should be blamed for the tragic accident can be settled legally in the court of law. Truly, we do not have control of what may happen to us wherever we go. People may die during the war or while they are sleeping. People die while enjoying their vacation; others die while diligently doing their work. Accident happens anytime anywhere, in the city or in the countryside, here and abroad. There’s no place in this world that may keep us absolutely safe.

Forever safety is reserved in heaven. It declares in Ecclesiastes 3:1-4, 1There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens: 2a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot, 3a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build, 4a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance.

God allows anything to happen for a reason; but that should not be a motivation to do ridiculous things. Instead, we should seek help from God; we pray for wisdom to do sensible things that may benefit us or favor everyone. It declares in Psalm 147:6, 6The Lord sustains the humble but casts the wicked to the ground. With the help of the Holy Spirit, we can internalize this spiritual truth so that we should always be dependent on the Lord for whatever we do, think and desire. The Lord grants the desire of believers who delight in him.

Lord Jesus, bless me to find delight in you.
