Pursue

Psalm 7:1-2

1Lord my God, I take refuge in you; save and deliver me from all who pursue me, 2or they will tear me apart like a lion and rip me to pieces with no one to rescue me.

Somewhere in Asia, a mother instructed her daughter, “When someone knocks at the door, tell them that I am not here, okay?” “Yes mother!” the child said. After a while, someone knocks at the door. The child shouted, “My mother said that she is not here!”

It may sound humorous story but it depicts a reality for many individuals who hide from debt collectors. And with the availability of advance communication, debt collectors utilize call centers to remind borrowers of their loans. Debtors who have no sufficient resources may try their best effort to hide from their creditor.

Are there biblical principles for debtors to avoid creditors who may pursue them? Should debtors take refuge in the Lord and ask him to save them from financial debts? How do we practically trust God to deliver us from mortgages? We are admonished in Matthew 6:31-34, 31So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

God is concerned about our practical needs also. But, have you ever experienced if the Lord gives instant solution to problem? When he said that first, we must let him take over our life, and we behave in godly righteousness, it implies a process of trust that God may guide us in practical steps to accomplish his purposes in us. His ultimate purpose is for us to praise and thank him all the days of our life until forever, why?

When by faith we obey the Lord, we will experience how he delivers us from concerns of life, even spiritual concerns of life in heaven.

Lord Jesus bless me to sincerely obey you!
