Cry

Psalm 6:9

9The Lord has heard my cry for mercy; the Lord accepts my prayer.

If you testify of personal experience, what concern has made you cry to the Lord? Have you personally encountered a terrible person who made your life uncomfortable or worst and made you regret that you were acquainted to that person?

King David was the greatest king of Israel. Did the Lord plan and anoint him to be great king of Israel? His greatness was manifested when he defeated all his enemies by the grace of God. The numerous enemies of King David included Goliath-a giant Philistine was also Israel’s enemy, King Saul-the jealous Israelite king, Shimei-a resentful Israelite from the clan of King Saul, Absalom-David’s own son, and Ahithophel-a personal counsellor of King David. Ahithophel had conspired with Absalom to grab the kingship of Israel and to destroy King David. In those days, all Israelites may know that the advice of Ahithophel was like that of one who inquires of God. King David was a very experienced warrior. He could have easily destroyed all those who tried to grab his throne but King David had prayed, “O Lord, turn the counsel of Ahithophel into foolishness.” He preferred to seek help from the Lord.

Our heavenly Father will hear us if we cry for mercy like King David. We may not have enemies but personal problems, family concern or other struggles may keep us crying all night. God is waiting for our call. When God delivers his answers to our prayers, difficult situations will turn into rejoicing. Crying to God is also practical expression of trust that the Lord hears us when we cry for his mercy. Do you believe that the Lord grants anything we ask him if it helps us grow in our faith in him? We are advised in Luke 6:27-28, “Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.”

Lord Jesus, help me love my enemies!
