Psalm 6:3

3My soul is in deep anguish. How   long, Lord, how long?

A young believer heard somewhere that everyone has a destiny. He asked himself, “What is my destiny?” He went to school; he did his best but he had not found satisfaction in his curricular accomplishments. Eventually, he got married and worked as ordinary employee to provide for his family.

The idea of his destiny made him not comfortable about his situation. As he read his Bible, the story of Abraham inspired him to follow wherever the Lord leads him. He sent his application to numerous institutions and landed on a job he never dreamed of. Several years later, he still enthusiastically worked in the same institution; he was able to provide for his family more than he expected. At his advance age, he concluded that following the will of God is the best circumstance for him and for his family. No matter his situation was, good or bad, he found fulfillment in God, his destiny.

King or ordinary citizen, church leader or ordinary church attendee, everyone has a problem that may confuse us sometimes. Problems can serve as alarm signals to evaluate if our trust in the gracious God has grown stronger. And when we found fulfillment in the Lord, we also found the destiny that God had designed for us.

Reflect on Ephesians 2:8-10, 8For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9not by works, so that no one can boast. 10For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

The saving grace of God includes both eternal and practical destiny. God had prepared a place for us his heaven; he also prepared beforehand our destiny to do good works on earth. If God gave his only Son Jesus Christ for eternal destiny in heaven, he also provides practical things for favorable destiny on earth, right?

Lord Jesus, bless me with stronger faith.
