Psalm 11:3
3 When the foundations are being destroyed, what can the righteous do?”
A driver brought his car for regular oil change at a shop. The mechanic informed him that rodents have made nest on the air filter of his car. The mechanic supposed that rodents may find is cozy to have nest in his car. That was the second time that rodents destroyed the air filter. The driver was upset because in addition to the regular oil change, he had to pay for new filter and cleaning of his car. Likewise, we may responsibly live our life but bad elements of the society may find it entertaining for them to destroy others’ property. And skeptics are puzzled why God allows wickedness to happen. They even argue that if the Lord Jesus Christ is God, he should have known that Judas Iscariot will betray him. So, why did he select Judas Iscariot as one of his disciples?
Reflect on what Christ invites in Matthew 11:28-29, 28Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
Christ knew beforehand that Judas Iscariot will betray him; he still selected him as one of his apostles. Why? Christ presents opportunity for everyone to trust him. He also exemplified that betrayal cannot affect his obedience to God the Father and his love for everyone. It is bothersome to trust people who may possibly betray us. When unpleasant event or undesirable situation happens, our behavior exhibits how much we trust that God allows things, good or bad, for his good purposes for us who love him. We may not know which friend is real or fake, but we follow the example of Christ to trust God that his plan is designed greater purposes and for betterment.
Lord Jesus, please increase my faith in you.
