Psalm 12:1

¹Help, Lord, for no one is faithful   anymore; those who are loyal have   vanished from the human race.

This is a warning of the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel against the unfaithful tribe of Judah in Jeremiah 35:15 & 17, ¹⁵“Again and again I sent all my servants the prophets to you. They said, ‘Each of you must turn from your wicked ways and reform your actions; do not follow other gods to serve them. Then you will live in the land I have given to you and your ancestors.’ But you have not paid attention or listened to me…  ¹⁷Listen! I am going to bring on Judah and on everyone living in Jerusalem every disaster I pronounced against them. I spoke to them, but they did not listen; I called to them, but they did not answer.”

In the time of Jeremiah, everyone was unfaithful to the Lord. They were enticed by materialism just like in our generation. Practical life has eternal effects. It leads to eternal damnation or wonderful life experience with God forever. There is no neutral ground in eternity. Sinners will be directly thrown into the eternal burning sulfur. Believers enter the blissful fellowship with Christ in heaven. God did not keep secret the requirements of living with him for all eternity. It is by faith in Jesus Christ that believers become adopted children of God. The punishment for rejecting Christ as Lord and Savior has already been decreed. Anyone may claim to have faith in Christ, but how can we be certain that we truly believe in Christ?

Christ declared in John 8:31, ³¹If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Now, apple fruit is most concrete proof of an apple tree. Likewise, making disciples is most concrete proof that Christ wants his disciples to have. As Disciples of Christ, we go and make disciples.

  Lord Jesus, bless me to be more faithful disciple.
