Psalm 13:1
1How long, Lord? Will you forget me forever? How long will you hide your face from me?
Personally, did you feel as if God has forgotten you forever when you cannot specifically sense the voice of the Lord? Did you feel like your prayer would just bounce back from the ceiling of your home whenever you pray? Did you wrestle with the thought that God has forgotten you forever when you hear others sharing about their answered prayer? Do you believe in your heart that you deserve similar favorable attention from God that he gives to others?
You may have cried night and day, saying the same prayer request. And, God seems to be very quiet and won’t want to grant your prayer request, just yet. You are disheartened. You feel dejected. You feel deprived. It seems like other believers are doing well, and you are apprehensive that they may mock or scorn your situation. You are confused by the thought that you have miserably failed in life. Maybe, you are not the one struggling with such confusing thoughts but your friend may have similar struggles. How can you help your friend?
The greatest king of Israel King David was not spared from struggles of life. But God called him “the man after my own heart.” King David trusted that God is faithful even when he felt like he’s forgotten forever. He declared in Psalm 36:5, 5Your love, Lord, reaches to the heavens, your faithfulness to the skies.
Maybe when God is silent, he is busy preparing something great for anyone who trusts in him. Anyway, it is human nature to feel forgotten or abandoned. When Christ was crucified, he felt abandoned and forsaken by God. Yet, he obeyed even unto his death because he trusted that God has the greatest plan for him.
Lord Jesus, help me trust you even when you’re silent.
