Psalm 12:7-8
7 You, Lord, will keep the needy safe and will protect us forever from the wicked, 8who freely strut about when what is vile is honored by the human race.
Certain government authorities called them terrorists, but another group honored them as fellow human beings. Their supporters protest anything detrimental to those so-called terrorist. Which group should be paid attention to: The authorities who called them terrorists or the group that honors and supports the so-called terrorists? The so-called terrorists attacked innocent victims and hide among their supporters. In retaliation, supporters of the victims attacked the hideout of the assailants, and some supporters of those assailants were tragically sacrificed as collateral damage. What can Christians do when everyone is angry against everyone’s action?
The Lord Jesus declared in Matthew 5:9-10, 9Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God. 10Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
As children of God, we should be attentive to divine opportunity to testify of the transformation that Christ did in our life. Surely, it is painfully tough for victims, and the human instinct says, “Where’s justice?” And what justice did Jesus Christ get when he was humiliated, tortured and killed? But before Jesus died, he even prayed that God forgives his tormentor because they do not know what they are doing. Those tormentors of Jesus, the so-called terrorists and their supporters may not be aware that God reserved eternal punishment for wickedness. Like anyone else, they also need a savior.
The Lord rewards according to his gracious love and punishes according to his righteous justice. We may not get justice on earth, but we can find contentment in this world and the next by doing what is right and pleasant in the eyes of God.
Lord Jesus, bless me to live life pleasing to you.
