Psalm 9:18

18 But God will never forget the needy; the hope of the afflicted will never perish.

Everyone hopes for the best, but the best is yet to come. And, how can hope be brighter to anyone affected by war? Almost every single day, the ongoing wars among nations around the world cannot be absent among headline news including natural calamities. God allows wars and natural calamities just as recorded in Isaiah 45:6-7, ⁶From the rising of the sun to the place of its setting, people may know there is none besides me. I am the Lord, and there is no other. ⁷I form the light and create darkness, I bring prosperity and create disaster; I, the Lord, do all these things.

Anyone could be distressed not jus war survivors. Are you struggling with finances, health, relationship, studies or work? Nobody can escape from problems. The greater problem you overcome, the greater character you become. Problems signal us to seek our Lord God Almighty.

Reflect on James 5:7-11, ⁷Be patient, then, brothers and sisters, until the Lord’s coming. See how the farmer waits for the land to yield its valuable crop, patiently waiting for the autumn and spring rains. ⁸You too, be patient and stand firm, because the Lord’s coming is near. ⁹Don’t grumble against one another, brothers and sisters, or you will be judged. The Judge is standing at the door! ¹⁰Brothers and sisters, as an example of patience in the face of suffering, take the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord. ¹¹As you know, we count as blessed those who have persevered. You have heard of Job’s perseverance and have seen what the Lord finally brought about.

The Lord is full of compassion and mercy. As we rely more upon the Holy Spirit of God, he inspires us to persevere and behave properly as children of God, and we store up eternal treasures. Pray for stronger faith and hope that our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ returns sooner than later.

Lord Jesus, help me rely upon you always.
