Psalm 13:4
4and my enemy will say, “I have overcome him,” and my foes will rejoice when I fall.
A newly installed pastor was very enthusiastic because the church was very much involved in advancement the kingdom of God on earth. However, on his first Sunday worship service in the said church, a prominent church leader teasingly told the new pastor, “I give you 5 years maximum if you can stay that long in the church.” The pastor took it slightly and responded, “If God called me as the pastor here, he decides if I stay for 5 years or less or more.” More than five years has passed by, that certain church leader transferred to another church but the pastor remained in the same church.
It is truly sad reality that confused church attendees wish to overcome and prevail over pastors. How do you interpret what it declares in Ephesians 4:11? 11So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers.
Christ is the head of the church. The congregation may elect but Christ chooses pastors and ministry leaders. Be familiar with the Scripture and avoid deceptive spiritual blunders. And how should we treat God’s anointed ones? The Lord warns us in Psalm 105:15, 15Do not touch my anointed ones; do my prophets no harm.
Of course, believers who are inspired by the Holy Spirit would respect the Lord’s anointed ones, but sadly, skeptics may behave otherwise. Prophets and preachers are messengers of God, and God’s anointing includes overcoming and prevailing over skeptics who may wish to harm his anointed ones.
Lord Jesus, help me do no harm to your anointed ones.
