Psalm 10:8

8The wicked lies in wait near the villages; from ambush he murders the innocent. His eyes watch in secret for his victims.

The wicked secretly plan on how to eliminate his enemy. There had been reports somewhere in Asia where riding tandem ambush their victims. Accordingly, gunmen riding on motorcycles ambush victims during rush hours when traffic is very slow. One person drives the motorcycle while the designated gunman eliminates unsuspecting targets. Motorcycle as getaway vehicle can escape from the scene easily.

What can we do to avoid being victimized? Let’s learn from King Jehoshaphat before enemies could invade them. It narrated in 2 Chronicles 20:20-22, 20Jehoshaphat stood and said, “Listen to me, Judah and people of Jerusalem! Have faith in the Lord your God and you will be upheld; have faith in his prophets and you will be successful.” 21After consulting the people, Jehoshaphat appointed men to sing to the Lord and to praise him for the splendor of his holiness as they went out at the head of the army, saying: “Give thanks to the Lord, for his love endures forever.” 22As they began to sing and praise, the Lord set ambushes against the men of Ammon and Moab and Mount Seir who were invading Judah, and they were defeated.

Jehoshaphat resolved to inquire of the Lord when enemies were about to invade them. He led his people praised God and thanked for his love that endures forever, instead of worrying about the imminent invasion. Worry is natural tendency of human when faced with unprecedented problems. But faith in God is proven true when we prayerfully ask him for his help and wait upon him with gratitude of the heart. Continually pray until you sense tranquility of heart, and as you wait patiently for solution to your problems, praise the Lord for his blessings and faithfulness.

Lord Jesus, strengthen my faith to trust you more.
