Snow
Psalm 8:1
1 Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory in the heavens.
Late at night, the husband was staring at the window of their bedroom. The wife was about to sleep; she was bothered, “What are you staring at? Why not go to sleep? Don’t you have work tomorrow?” “I have!” the husband calmly replied, but he kept on staring at the window. The wife was curious; she got out of bed and joined her husband who silently staring the bright white snow outside the window. “Wow!” the wife released her amusement; she was so amazed of the white snow covered backyard. It was already very late at night, and yet the surrounding was so bright. There was no trace of dirt on the ground. It was all white outside the house.
Silently reflect personally at what King David prayer of repentance in Psalm 51:7-10, 7 Cleanse me with hyssop, and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow. 8 Let me hear joy and gladness; let the bones you have crushed rejoice. 9 Hide your face from my sins and blot out all my iniquity. 10 Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.
Our sins are like filthy dirt in the eyes of God. But when we repent of our sins, the Lord washes away all our filthiness, and we become clean and whiter than snow in his eyes. How strong do you realize that mystery of God’s forgiveness? How wonderful the feeling could be when the Lord declares that he had forgotten the sins he forgave! Does the Lord let the white snow fall over filthy ground as a reminder for all believers that by faith in Christ, he washed away all our filthy sins so that we become clean and whiter than snow in his eyes? We should be thankful every time we get tired shoveling the snow. Of course, only by faith in Christ we believe such mystery.
Lord Jesus, thank you for washing away my filthiness.
