Psalm 13:5

5But I trust in your unfailing love; my heart rejoices in your salvation.

Just because their parents love them so much, children may assume that they can have everything they want. Abusive children may try to intimidate other people because they think that their parents would back them up no matter what.

Someone published on social media about a young arrogant person. He shouted offensive words at restaurant workers who reprimanded his behavior. Unknowingly, his father may have been notified on social media with the hostile incident. He saw the nasty behavior of his son toward others. He brought his son to the restaurant and told him to apologize to those workers he shouted at with abusive words. The young man apologized, and his father told his son in front of cameras that he will never get near the restaurant again. Many observers praised the firm parenting of the father. Others hope that the young man learned his lesson well.

The Lord declares in Revelation 3:19, 19Those whom I love I rebuke and discipline. So be earnest and repent.                   Christians are not exempted from the Lord’s discipline. We are also encouraged to endure hardship as discipline. God treats us as his children and disciplines us as he deems best for us. It is not very pleasant at the time of discipline. It is painful. It could be that God is helping us to seriously evaluate our faith in him and reflect, “Can I still trust that God has great plan for me despite my predicament?” Did God ever say, “Don’t ever cry if you feel the pain of discipline?” God does not prevent us from crying. Crying during painful moments releases emotion we don’t like to linger in us much longer. God the Father never reprimanded when Jesus wept over the death of his friend Lazarus. During challenging times when doubt tries to shake our faith in God, we need inspiration of the Holy Spirit and remember his unfailing love for us.

Lord Jesus, help me remember your unfailing love always.
