Psalm 5:8

⁸Lead me, Lord, in your righteousness because of my enemies—make your way straight before me.

Life is intertwined with benefactors as well as adversaries. Everyone loves it when surrounded with supportive people. We love it when they promote our cause. But still, we cannot be complacent; it is wise to be mindful always. Bad elements in the society may just appear somewhere anytime.

It happened on ordinary day to my daily routine. On one particular morning, I glanced at a man with kitchen knives along the road. Suddenly, he shouted as I passed by. The angry man raised the kitchen knives he held each in his hands on attack stance. As I drove away, I glanced at my side mirror and rear view mirror; the angry man stopped running after me but kept on shouting as he walked along. I can only assume that the angry man may have been drunk; he may have problem with someone else, or he may have personal problem. I just hoped that he did not hurt himself or anybody else.

The Lord challenges us in Leviticus 26:3-6, ³If you follow my decrees and are careful to obey my commands, ⁴I will send you rain in its season, and the ground will yield its crops and the trees their fruit. ⁵Your threshing will continue until grape harvest and the grape harvest will continue until planting, and you will eat all the food you want and live in safety in your land. ⁶I will grant peace in the land, and you will lie down and no one will make you afraid. I will remove wild beasts from the land, and the sword will not pass through your country.

There are many uncertainties is life. We don’t disregard possibilities of terrible times, but we seek peace from God instead. Sometimes God allows undesirable momentss to help us check and evaluate our faith in him. God’s grace is sufficient, even when he lets us face tougher situations, just to help us grow stronger in our faith in him.

Lord Jesus, increase my faith during tough times.
