Psalm 10:3
3 The wicked man boasts about the cravings of his heart; he blesses the greedy and reviles the Lord.
Filipinos who immigrated to Canada may crave for ripe mango fruits. Mangoes are abundant in the Philippines, but they are very expensive in Canada. If you grew up in the Philippines and came to Canada as an adult, you may have wished that this event happens next door. The social media have so much praise for the mango farmer who carefully put few pieces of ripe mangoes in separate bags and hanged them on the fence in front of his home; he also wrote a notice that says, “Take as much as you need!” In comparison, would you highly praise or harshly criticize if you have read about a frustrated mango farmer who threw away thousands of ripe mangoes along the road as means of protest against the very low prices of mangoes in the market accordingly?
If the frustrated farmer really needed money, he could have sold it even at low price to recover his expenses, at least. Discarding good fruit as means of protest exhibits foolish greed for more money. Keep in mind what it warned in 1 Timothy 6:10, 10For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.
Greedy or not, everyone wishes to have abundance of life. The Lord Jesus Christ offered abundance of life to all who believes in him. He challenges us to give his right portion, his tithes. He promised to open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing after we faithfully give his tithes. Genuine Christians who trusted his promise proved them true. Like all other godly commands, we must rely upon the Holy Spirit for us to trust and obey him. Seriously pray for increase of faith and inspiration of the Holy Spirit to faithfully give the tithes of God and test him of his faithfulness to the faithful.
Lord Jesus, bless me to faithfully give your portion.
