Fishing

Psalm 8:7-8

all flocks and herds, and the animals of the wild, the birds in the sky, and the fish in the sea, all that swim the paths of the seas.

Few years ago, a friend invited me to fish, and we caught so much Striped Bass. As of this writing, I haven’t heard of Striped Bass caught where we used to fish few years ago. What happened to the Striped Bass? They are gone! Then, several years later, friends and I went to catch Whitefish with net. We caught so much Whitefish as much as the government issued fishing regulation has allowed. Similar misfortune happened; the Whitefish are gone. Even with government issued fishing regulations, there is no absolute control of how much fish should be caught. Humans are insatiably enthusiastic catching so much fish they wanted.

According to reports, the problem of wild boars in Canada is becoming uncontrollable. Wild boar could be a delicacy for several ethnic people. If only the government would issue more lenient regulations on hunting wild boar similar to fishing regulations, the problem of wild boar could possibly be eliminated eventually.

Personally reflect on what the Lord decreed in Leviticus 26:3-5, 3If you follow my decrees and are careful to obey my commands, I will send you rain in its season, and the ground will yield its crops and the trees their fruit. 5 Your threshing will continue until grape harvest and the grape harvest will continue until planting, and you will eat all the food you want and live in safety in your land.

Decrees are necessary measures to regulate sustainable provision proportionately and appropriately, but a natural tendency of mankind is to defy regulations and authorities. Only by faith in Christ that we trust that the decrees and regulations that God issued are beneficial to the obedient. The Holy Spirit of God inspires us to internalize, accept and obey his decrees.

Lord Jesus, help me internalize your decrees.
