Passed Away
Psalm 6:5
5 Among the dead no one proclaims your name. Who praises you from the grave?
My phone rang and a familiar voice said, “Pastor, Bro. Glen has passed away!” I was not ready to hear such tragic news. And then, I recalled precious moments about Bro. Glen. He was very dedicated member of the church. He helped in many practical ways: visited sick church members, cooked for church fellowship, cleaned the church building, mowed the church lawn, attended Sunday school classes, and he was regular greeter at the foyer among many other involvements he gladly did. I supposed he was serious in storing up eternal treasures for himself in heaven. For extended time, he endured his physical pain without complaint. And God must be gracious to him so that he took him to have eternal rest in peace with him forever.
It says in Psalm 116:15, 15Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his faithful servants. What can we do? Many among us have great memories with Bro. Glen, and may his faithful obedience to the Lord inspire us to participate more devotedly in the kingdom of God. It says in Ecclesiastes 9:10, 10 Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might, for in the realm of the dead, where you are going, there is neither working nor planning nor knowledge nor wisdom.
Our time on earth is very limited. We don’t really know when the Lord decides to take us into his heaven. When that time comes, will you be prepared? Are you assured that you will enter heaven? If you do, have you stored up eternal treasures for yourselves in heaven? Pray for stronger faith and inspiration of the Holy Spirit. Discover your spiritual gifts and use them to regularly get involved in the ministry, may it be on church setting or outside church setting. May each of us rejoice more gladly when one day, we see and fellowship with our Brother Glen in heaven for all eternity!
Lord Jesus, inspire me to follow your instructions
