Psalm 9:10
10Those who know your name trust in you, for you, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you.
It narrated in Exodus 3:13-15, 13 Moses said to God, “Suppose I go to the Israelites and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they ask me, ‘What is his name?’ Then what shall I tell them?” 14 God said to Moses, “I am who I am. This is what you are to say to the Israelites: ‘I am has sent me to you.’” 15 God also said to Moses, “Say to the Israelites, ‘The Lord, the God of your fathers—the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob—has sent me to you.’ “This is my name forever, the name you shall call me from generation to generation.
Many scholars suggests that the name of the Lord “I am” is expression of his grace and care available for believers at present moment and not delayed or postponed. The Lord “I am” who talked to Moses was born in human flesh Jesus Christ admonishes us in Matthew 6:33-34, 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
Can you accept that God reveals his name according to our needs? In Genesis 22:14, God revealed his name as Yahweh-Jireh (Provider). In Exodus 15:26, God revealed his name as Yahweh-Rapha (Healer). In Psalm 23:1, King David called the Lord as his Shepherd (Yahweh-Rohi). A shepherd makes his sheep lie down in green pasture. The sheep won’t worry about its food or safety.
Who is God to you personally? The name of God we call when praying should express belief in him. How confident do you trust the Lord as provider or shepherd? Pray for stronger faith to trust the Lord as loving Shepherd and caring Provider.
Lord Jesus, strengthen my faith in you.
