Psalm 9:20

20 Strike them with terror, Lord; let the nations know they are only mortal.

Humans are limited mortals that can be scared by terror. Did the Psalmist pray that the Lord may terrorize their enemies as revenge? Their enemies may have flaunted and showed off their power as if they were invincible. When enemies attacked them, they may have endured devastating terror of cruel invaders; emotionally and materially, they suffered. They were not able to defend themselves. So, the Psalmist appealed that God may strike their enemies with terror. Their only refuge is the Lord. Psalm 91:9-13 declares, 9If you say, “The Lord is my refuge,” and you make the Most High your dwelling, 10no harm will overtake you, no disaster will come near your tent. 11For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways; 12they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone. 13You will tread on the lion and the cobra; you will trample the great lion and the serpent.

We may not suffer of any destructive effect of war, but we can be distracted by personal battles. We are at war against problems: finances, health, economy or relationship. What practical step could we do? Is it the best solution to problem if we take refuge in the Lord? To take refuge in the Lord, we trust that he allows struggles of life and divert us to his wonderful plan for us. Even difficulties, God designed them as instruments to shape our life story worthy to testify of his grace and mercy. Every person has personal dream. Someone wanted to become somebody someday. Then bad vices distracted his priority and lost his purpose in life. After he decided to fully trust Christ to direct his steps, he discovered that prioritizing God in everything he did gave him contentment to keep serving the Lord now until eternity. Of course, we can prioritize God until eternity only by his grace and mercy.

Lord Jesus, allow me to prioritize you always.
