Psalm 10:1
1 Why, Lord, do you stand far off? Why do you hide yourself in times of trouble?
Jesus Christ declares in John 10:10, 10The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. Christ offers fullness of life while the thief tries to destroy, kill and steal from everyone in this world. Young and old alike, religious or not struggles with problem. Even the Psalmist did not hesitate to express his feeling, as if the Lord was hiding himself in times of trouble. When we have troubles, we wish to have instant remedy. We pray and pray and pray. Yet, no apparent answer to our prayers! It felt like the Lord is far off and nowhere to be found.
Reflect on the experience of Hagar. After her son Ishmael mocked the young Isaac, Sarah told Abraham to get rid of them. After the Lord told him to do what his wife Sarah told him, Abraham gave food and water to Hagar and Ishmael and sent them away. Not long after, the water was gone. Hagar cried. It narrated in Genesis 21:19, 19Then God opened her eyes and she saw a well of water. So she went and filled the skin with water and gave the boy a drink.
After Hagar and Ishmael were sent away, the water was gone. All Hagar can do was to cry. And God opened her eyes to see that water was abundant near them. Even before we prayed, the Lord had already delivered his answer. How strong do you accept such reality? When we cry out to God for help, we should pray that God opens our eyes to see his answers. It reminds us in 1 Peter 1:3, 3His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. Prayerfully ask the Spirit of revelation to personally show you his provision. Prayerfully ask the Spirit of wisdom to guide you which practical step you should take to overcome your struggles.
Lord Jesus empower me to see you provision.
