Psalm 11:5

5The Lord examines the righteous, but the wicked, those who love violence, he hates with a passion.

Have ever heard someone said, “God hates the sins but loves the sinner!”

If they claim that God loves the sinner, how could they reconcile such with what the Psalmist declaration that the Lord hates the wicked and those who love violence with a passion? Well, they may have in mind sinners who are not very violent, but what about the wicked? Do they interpret that wickedness is doing wrong against other people and not necessarily wickedness as the term suggest. Sinners are wicked, right?

How do you interpret John 3:16-18? 16For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.

Many people presume that the love of God is unconditional, which is true that God so loved the world. What does the term “Loved” in past tense imply? Does it mean that in the past, God loved the world but not at present time or in the future? God loved the world unconditionally in the past but it is conditional to have eternal life at present and to live with him in the future in heaven. The condition is to believe in his Son Jesus Christ. And whoever does not believe in his Son Jesus Christ stands condemned already. There’s no chance for appeal. We should have faith in Jesus Christ, if we choose to live with God in his heaven eternally. No other way. Christ is the only way to God the Father.

Lord Jesus, increase my faith in you.
