Dream

Psalm 6:7

7My eyes grow weak with sorrow; they fail because of all my foes.

Have you ever felt any regret when you remember those unfulfilled aspirations in life? What do you normally do when you are reminded of your dreams that never happened, yet?

A man woke up from sleep pondering why he dreamed of unfulfilled aspirations in his life. What went wrong? Why did he not act smartly? Why did he not think of more productive ways before? He could have come up with better result if he made a smart decision? Why did God allow him not to accomplish his dreams? And he felt heaviness in his heart. He was gloomy as he imagined how happy he could have been if he accomplished what he ever longed for himself. And then he remembered to pray and ask the Lord for enlightenment. It teaches in Psalm 77:11-12, 11I will remember the deeds of the Lord; yes, I will remember your miracles of long ago. 12I will consider all your works and meditate on all your mighty deeds.”

The harsh winter causes damage to the road. Normally during summer in Canada, on-going road construction and repairs cause inconvenience to motorists. It’s wise to take a detour or follow diversion roads; it is not very productive to wait until the road repair is finished. Unexpected inconveniences may happen anytime anywhere. Detours could be longer means to reach our destination but it is much better than no activity at all.

As pilgrims in this world, we should expect several detours in our spiritual journey. If the Lord deems it unfavorable for us in the long run, he may allow our dreams not to be fulfilled, just yet. Our human instinct may cause us to be sentimental and confused by unaccomplished plans. But when inspired by the Holy Spirit, we choose to delight on the many blessings that he showered in our life. It says in Psalm 143:5, 5I remember the days of long ago; I meditate on all your works and consider what your hands have done.

Lord Jesus, help me delight on your blessings always.
